My reader base has always been small but loyal. If you’re here wondering where I’ve disappeared to, rest assured that I haven’t disappeared—just shifted my focus from visibility to productivity.

Progress on Stormfall is slow because, since the release of The Nightmare Machine in 2024, I’ve learned the hard way that today’s mainstream fiction marketplace is not where I want to be, but that doesn’t mean I’ve stopped writing. In fact, it means the opposite; by completely opting out of the rat race, I’ve made good progress toward healing the damage that it did to my love of writing.

At least for the foreseeable future, all of my books will remain available on all major platforms (although, if you like my work, I would greatly appreciate it if you would consider buying from me directly). The only thing that has changed is that I will no longer run myself or my bank account (which I share with my extraordinarily patient wife) into the ground in a futile effort to make the Amazon algorithm like me. When Stormfall is done, I’ll simply publish it quietly, without fanfare, and I’ll email you to let you know when it’s almost ready—so please be sure to register for email updates here if you’d like to be notified.

Although there is still much work to do, I have made real, significant progress on Stormfall, I am actively working on it as I can make time, and I will finish it. To quote your dad (probably, if you’re old like me): It’ll be done when it’s done—and I won’t give it to you until it’s the best book I’m currently capable of writing.
